Throwing on the wheel

This goes to the picture i just posted. I wasn't exactly quiet done with it, but it got fired anyways. I was a bowl that i threw on the wheel and on the inside it was suppose to be a lotus flower but it didn't get finished like i said. The bowl is a little uneven because this is the first piece that i took off of the wheel so it's not perfect, but i hope to get better at it by the end of the year and i hope to take this class in college because its stress relieving for me.

Represents Me

I hhad made a ball with a flower but it ended up breaking. So i just took a picture of the bucket. The flower represented me as a person growing in life with different situations that i have been through.

Life of a leaf

This is my sculpture that I made & it represents the life of a leaf. A person goes through life young and innocent and so does a leaf & I just really like this piece a lot cause it shows how the leaf ended up dieing but from natural reasons such as life.

wheel throwing

Same goes for this. it’s a flower with a weird type of flower painting on the inside.

wheel throwing

This was one of the first pieces that I was able to create and to actually take off of the wheel and it’s just a little plant dish where you should start growing things and you would put your seeds in it. my favorite part about this piece is the color selection that I chose to paint.

coil pot

Here is my coil pot that I made. I really like I features of if and how I built it  took my quiet a long time to build and it was used for bamboo which Is why I created it but it broke.

All About Hara Kiyoshi

Image result for Hara Kiyoshi
Hara Kiyoshi is a Japanese ceramic artist. He was born in 1936 in Shimane which is a mountain area on the coast of western Honshu a small japan island. He was influenced by art as a child and becames interested in it during his early 20's. He found a passion and that was ceramic artwork. His culture mainly impacted him to do this type of artwork. He got a chance to throw on the wheel when he was accepted to Japan Koegi Assosiation where he could made art work and sell them. It was basically an art convention that's international. The pieces that he creates are traditional/cultural pieces. He is well known for his sculpture that has a deep iron glaze that symbolizes horses and birds. He has been awarded for this piece last year.

I really like this art piece that Kiyoshi made. He threw it on the wheel and made it look very clean. You can tell that he sand it down and had used underglaze for this piece with a think coat of shiny glaze. I have how he includes the painted cherry blossom tree to a whole new level by including it on the inside of the bowl. The painting design is very detailed, you can really tell that he took his time.

Recreating functional items

For this assignment I decided to make a reversible turtle soap dish. I put all the details on the inside of how the shell is designed and then the outside make it look like a turtle was walking with some feet so that it could hold itself up on its own. I had a tail on it but it sadly broke off because it was so little and someone ran into me & it broke off.

Baby bird

These are my two baby birds that I have created and have painted. I didn't know how to paint them so I just painted them orange and hoped that they would come out looking nice and of course they did.

Lantern

this is my finished lantern that I finished painting and fired. it wasn't complete at first but now it is.

recreation picture

for my recreation picture I actually did another assignment and that was to do this project for the lunch ladies banquet. my group took sticks from outside pained them and combined them together to make a tree and made cool leads out of this copper metal sheet.

Experience on the wheel

My experience on the wheel was hard but was fun at the same time. I didn't get a chance to create anything because none of my  models looked right and it took me two days just to center. I plan on wheeling again in the future to become better at it.
