Mishima and Sgraffito

Mishima: Is a technique to design a piece of artwork by drawing a slip of contrasting colors into the lines of the drawing in leather-hard clay.

Sgraffito: Is a technique to design a piece of art work by adding layers of plaster to unfire ceramic pieces and then scratching them off.


Mishima piece: It’s a plate that with flowers that I want to create. My theme is flowers so I want to try different flowers than the typical ones I do. But it does match my theme since it is flower and nature theme.



Sprigging: Is a process that you use to design a art ceramic piece of clay and decorate it with seperate individual pieces of molded clay to design your art piece.

Slip trailing: Is a  process that you use to design a art ceramic piece of clay with slip or under glaze in a dispenser that rises when hardens. It can be applied to bone dry clay or bisqueware. 

Impressed texture: Is a method that you can use to add texture to your artwork when the clay is wet to add more detail.
